DAY 01 - San José – Sarapiquí (Breakfast, lunch & dinner)
Visit to INBioparque for guided tour and breakfast.
INBioparque

INBioparque is a 20 acre park with interpreted trails that allow visitors to experience living samples of Costa Rica's native ecosystems: tropical humid forest, tropical dry forest and Central Valley native forest. Learn about our planets biodiversity, research and development of new products: medicines, cosmetics, and nutritional and agricultural products. Find out about Costa Rica's conservation efforts and the creation of national parks, biological reserves and other protected areas.

Continue your journey to the Rain Forest Aerial Tram Atlantic for lunch and gondolas ride.

Rain Forest Aerial Tram Atlantic: This eco-tourism and research facility takes visitors on a 90minute tram ride, floating through the rainforest canopy, with its hanging garden of plants and animals high in the tops of tropical trees. The canopy is home to two thirds of all rainforest species, and the Aerial Tram site, on the northern border of Braulio Carrillo National Park, possesses one of the richest canopy communities in the world.

Transfer to Centro Neotropico Sarapiquis for registration and visit to Alma Ata Archaeological Park for a dip inside Costa Rica’s indigenous history.

Centro Neotrópico SarapiquíS: Inspired by the indigenous pre-Columbian architecture of the “palenques”, this comfortable ecolodge was designed to relax, to learn, to be challenged physically and mentally. It is a tropical setting of the majestic rainforest, with Neotropical birds and “Chester’s Field” botanical gardens. Visitors will also enjoy the unique archaeological park “Alma Ata”.

DAY 02 - Hacienda Pozo Azul (Breakfast, lunch & dinner)
Full day of adventures at Hacienda Pozo Azul. Today you can choose two activities out of three: River Rafting, Canopy Tour or Horseback Riding.

Hacienda Pozo Azul is a 2,000 acre ranch in Sarapiqui, located just 90 minutes from San Jose. The Hacienda's many trails have plenty of natural fauna, beautiful rivers and waterfalls, giving you the opportunity to explore on horseback, mountain bikes, or in a guided nature walk, or just enjoy bird watching as they drift down the Sarapiqui River. Feel the adrenaline rise as you discover the wonders of Hacienda Pozo Azul with a thrilling (and safe) Treetop Canopy Ride ending with a spectacular 900-foot zip line across the Sarapiquí River. Or, sample the exhilaration of white water rafting with the Sarapiquí's year round, class II and III rapids (as well as the expert's class IV upon request), all with top quality equipment and experienced certified guides.
Pozo Azul

For even more "hands-on" excitement, rappel down the Sarapiqui River canyon with special safety ropes. Hacienda Pozo Azul also operates a modern and unique dairy where everything is recycled and nothing goes to waste. Manure produces the electricity to cool their 300 Holstein cows, while compost provides high quality organic fertilizer with the help of earthworms.

  DAY 03 - SarapiquíS–Poás Volcano & La Paz Waterfall Gardens–San José (Breakfast & lunch)
Enjoy a visit to Poás Volcano National Park & La Paz Waterfall Gardens on the way back to San José.

Poás Volcano National Park: Poás Volcano is one of the most visited parks in the Costa Rican National Park system. It features two impressive craters: one active and one that holds a lovely Crater Lake. The massive active crater often has sulfuric smoke rising out of the boiling, muddy lake on its bottom, while the beautiful crater lagoon is surrounded by lush cloud forest, with species of birds and plants native to the volcano. The road to the park passes quaint villages, coffee plantations, dairy farms and spectacular views, and when finally in the park, we are surrounded by lush, unique vegetation.

La Paz Waterfall Gardens: This is a Nature Park and Wildlife Refuge with an altitude ranging from 4,300 feet (1,320 meters) to 5,000 feet (1,540 meters) that provides an ideal climate for both cloud and rain forest to coexist. The trail design features three kilometers of serpentine paved trails and viewing platforms that allow visitors to experience and photograph the forest and the awesome power of four majestic waterfalls from a number of exciting perspectives. La Paz Waterfall Gardens features also a Hummingbird Garden, Serpentarium, frog pound, small aquarium and a large enclosed Butterfly Observatory covering 18,000 square feet and towering 50 feet in height, with a collection of ten species of the most colorful butterflies found in Costa Rica.
